What is a Ratpacker? |
Ratpackers are the fans wot follow tha' Forever Knight rat-slurpin' vampire Screed. ‘Tis true tha' the droog supposedly croaked roight proper-loik h'in the episode "Fever" when a white lab rat gave ‘im a part-tick-uarly bad case o' indi-gest-tion. This may be, but h'us Ratpackers know ‘e got better. |
Who is the Ratpack? |
A bunch o' Ratpackers h'all packed ta-gether wot ta praise Screed h'in wot Forever Knight on-line fans call a faction (a group o' fans wot clique tagether). Screed's a carouche type o' vampire, wot the De-fec-a-tive Nickie Knight called, "a lower form of vampire" tha' eats vermin. Well, we'se a lower form o' Forever Knight fandom, an' proud o' it! |
Are you associated with Frank Sinatra and his pals? |
Who...? Wait, ain't them some cheap sort o' enter-tainers down h'in Vegas? We don't pay inny mind ta those tha' stand h'on stage an' yodel. We stay where the action h'iz h'in Vegas - the SLOTS! |
How can I find out more about Screed? |
Either put ya peepers h'on se-lec-tive third season eppy-sodes o' Forever Knight, or go ta Screed's Website. No, we dinna pick h'up the webpages h'at the swap meet h'after tradin' fer some telly-phone trans-ponders! T'ain't true. We traded fer this ol' ugly green Caddy we found down by the po-lice station. |
Do members of the Ratpack really find this rat-sucking vampire sexy? Why?! |
O' course! H'ain't h'it obby-us? Maybe ya need spec-ta-cles. |
How did the Ratpack come into being? |
Like most Forever Knight factions, h'it just ‘appened! |
Who is the Leader o' the Pack? |
John "Johnsie" Ewan. He wuz the first to declare himself a Ratpacker the day or so h'after Screed's first appearance on Forever Knight. The character touched sumthin' deep an' emotional h'in Johnsie (not ta mention h'in ‘iz noggin). As leader, Johnsie h'only ‘olds ta one rule fer Ratpackers, "Dignity at all costs!" |
Who is this Libby I keep hearing about and why isn't she Pack Leader? |
Ol' Libs aka Libby h'ain't stupid. Tha's why she lets Johnsie be the foirst target o' Ratpack displeasure, while she really runs thingees ‘idin' be-hind ‘im! |
Can anyone join the Ratpack? What are the requirements, restrictions, initiation fees, etc? |
Fees? H'ain't h'ever thought o' chargin' fees! Oh, tha's because being a Ratpacker h'iz FREE (though we might jest collect innything wot falls from ya pockets when ya come h'in the door)! |
What about this Ratpack discussion list: what is it, who can join, and how do you sign up? |

Who is this Greg Kramer fellow and is he a member of the Ratpack? How can I find out more about him? |
Ol' Greg Kramer h'iz the droog wot por-trayed Screed h'on Forever Knight (o' course Screed iz MUCH better lookin'). ‘E's been known ta try ta learn a few lessons from the Ratpack, but ‘e hasn't quite reached our level of classy-ness. Ya kin find h'out all about Greg, ‘iz nifty award winnin' books, an' udder stuff h'at 'iz very own (well, it's no ac-tually 'IZ, h'it's just about 'im) website. Ya kin even join ‘iz FREE on-line fan klub! |
Has the Ratpack ever gathered together in Real Lifetm? If so, how and why? |
Some o' us ‘ave met at various science fiction conventions and Forever Knight fan gatherings/parties. The Ratpack, like most on-line Forever Knight fans, become friends h'in cyberspace, then decide ta get together ta party now an' again. Such thingees are announced on FORKNI-L (the general Forever Knight discussion list) and the Ratpack mailing list. |
You guys all type with an accent: do you talk that way, too? Where can I get a translation of what you are writing? |
We kin talk tha' way when we put h'our noggins ta h'it. We are also quite capable of talking normally when we want! (Well, except maybe for Greg Kramer, but we'll forgive him.) Screed's language, which the Ratpack has adopted and expanded upon, is based on many sources including Nadsat from the book and movie A Clockwork Orange, Cockney, Cockney rhyming slang, and other "corrupted especially for Screed" foreign and dialect phrases. Here is a list of some of our most common verbages. |
